Mental Health Independent Visitor

Our Mental Health Independent Visitor service aims to provide:

  • emotional support, engage in meaningful conversations and participate in recreational activities together.
  • help individuals navigate mental health services, communicate their needs and preferences to healthcare providers, and ensure that their rights are respected.
  • assist individuals with practical tasks such as shopping, attending appointments, managing finances, or accessing community resources.
  • provide practical support to help individuals maintain their independence and well-being.
  • offer encouragement, motivation, and positive reinforcement to individuals as they work towards their recovery goals.
  • help individuals build confidence, self-esteem, and resilience in managing their mental health challenges.
  • observe and monitor the well-being of the individuals they support, noting any changes in behaviour or symptoms.
  • help individuals participate in social activities and community events to promote social inclusion and reduce feelings of isolation.
  • provide individuals with information and education about mental health, treatment options, and self-care strategies.
  • help individuals develop coping skills, resilience, and self-management techniques to better navigate their mental health challenges.
  • maintain appropriate boundaries in their relationships with individuals they support, ensuring that their role remains supportive and non-intrusive. Respect the autonomy and privacy of the individuals they work with while providing compassionate and respectful care.
